ACROSS

Passy

The Arve river valley is very sensitive to this phenomenon, in particular close to the city of Passy (Haute-Savoie), 20 km down valley past Chamonix. The area has indeed one of the worst air quality in France.Besides air quality monitoring, as managed by the local air quality agency Air Rhône-Alpes or the project DECOMBIO led […]

Parcs

The Chantier Arctique Pollution in the Arctic System (PARCS) project, funded by CNRS, has the overall goal to improve understanding about the sources, fate and impacts of pollution in the Arctic system, notably on climate, marine ecosystems and human society. PARCS brings together groups from 19 French labs and several international partners and is coordinated by LATMOS/CNRS. […]

Kascade

The field campaign consisted of a combination of profiling systems (SODAR, tethered balloon, radiosoundings), turbulence and radiation observations (flux divergence tower), and standard meteorological observations at different sites. In this way the field campaign is designed to investigate the role of several key parameters for the stable boundary layer formation and the consequent (valley) winds.

Cerdanya

The field experiment Cerdanya-2017 took place in this valley from October 2016 to April 2017, focusing on three meteorological phenomena in mountainous terrain: cold pool, mountain waves and orographic precipitations. This research is a joint effort of several teams from the Euroregion Pyrenees-Mediterranean, these teams belong to the Universities of the Balearic Islands and of […]

SOFOG3D

SEA2CLOUD

Are marine living microorganisms influencing clouds? In the 1970’s, scientists James Lovelock and Lynn Margulis developed a new paradigm for how we view our planet, termed the Gaia Principle. In it, they proposed that the Earth can be thought of as a complex living organism, composed of all the various living organisms existing together in […]

LIAISE

Objectives and science questions The overall objective of this new activity, the Land surface Interactions with the Atmosphere over the Iberian Semi-arid Environment (LIAISE) project, is to improve our understanding of the impact of anthropization on the water cycle in terms of land-atmosphere-hydrology interactions, and the limitations of models to represent all aspects of the […]
